About us

In 1992, supported by the local Community Association, Dr Kate McClelland sought permission from the Health Board to open a Pharmacy to serve the village of Maghaberry.

The pharmacy opened in 1993 and 4 years later, Maghaberry Pharmacy was awarded 'Best Independent Pharmacy of the Year', putting both the pharmacy and the village on the map.

Maghaberry Pharmacy has built relationships with all of the local doctors' practices as there is no surgery in the village. Patient choice of doctor is therefore extensive and the pharmacy is known for its quality service to the people of Maghaberry.

Working with the Community Association, the pharmacy was instrumental in starting the 'Friday Morning Club' with funding from the Building Community-Pharmacy Partnership. This has developed and there are now several small groups meeting in the village with health and social care as their core values.

In 2006, an extensive refit was completed, extending the dispensary to cope with the increased prescription business and service development. This has improved the flow of work and allowed further service expansion into Repeat Dispensing and Minor Ailments Schemes.

Maghaberry Pharmacy's continued success was recognised in 2007 at the Northern Ireland Pharmacy Awards, winning awards for Innovation and Change in Pharmacy Practice and another for Pharmacy Technician of the Year.
